Explore the Footsteps of Chieko, Wife of Poet Kotar Takamura

About this spot

The birthplace of painter Chieko Takamura, known as the protagonist of poet Kotar Takamura's poetry collection "Chieko-sho". The building from when it was a sake brewery has been preserved, and in the adjacent memorial museum, you can view exhibits introducing Chieko's life and works. As a place associated with Chieko, who praised Mt. Adatara as "the true sky", this is a must-visit spot for families who love literature. The time spent quietly viewing her works in the exhibition room serves as a nice break during an eventful day.
