Cross One of Japan's Three Most Famous Bridges: A Five-Arch Wooden Structure
About this spot
A wooden arched bridge built during the Edo period and counted among Japan's three most famous bridges. The five beautiful arches reflected in the clear waters of the Nishiki River are a nationally renowned landscape representing Iwakuni. From the bridge, you can view sweetfish swimming in the river and the surrounding green mountains, and crossing it alone brings a refreshing feeling. Before the evening fireworks, be sure to enjoy Iwakuni's symbol during the daytime.

About 15 minutes by bus from JR Iwakuni Station (JR岩国駅). The bridge is wooden with steps, so hold hands with young children and cross slowly. In summer, bring a hat for protection from the sun, as there is little shade.

Approximately 1 hour required. From late morning through midday, there are relatively fewer tourists.
