A merchant town that flourished through indigo trading from the Edo through Meiji periods, designated as a National Important Group of Traditional Buildings. The lined "Udatsu" fireproof walls set at the boundaries between adjacent houses form a beautiful white-walled townscape that conveys the prosperity of merchants of that era. Along the stone-paved street, shops and galleries in renovated old merchant houses are scattered about, and you can feel the Edo atmosphere just by walking. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the town before the fireworks festival.

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は美馬市や主催者の公式発表で確認を。終了後は周辺道路が混み合うため、少し余韻を楽しんでから移動するのがおすすめです。河川敷は足元が暗いので、スマホのライトなどを準備しておくと安心です。

Tips

About 10 minutes by car from JR Anabuki Station (穴吹駅). It is recommended to walk on the stone pavement with comfortable shoes. During summer, the sun is strong, so bring a parasol or hat. It's just a short walk to Wakicho Theater Odeon-za next.
