Pay respects at the shrine known as a seagull breeding ground
About this spot
A shrine located at the summit of Kabushima Island, which was once a small island floating in the sea. It is designated as a National Natural Monument and known as a breeding ground for seagulls. From March to August, tens of thousands of seagulls fly in, and the sight of them swarming around the shrine grounds is spectacular. From the shrine hall at the top of the stone steps, a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean spreads before you. This is a scenic spot symbolic of Hachinohe, cherished since ancient times by local people wishing for safe seas and abundant harvests.

Tips
Tips
About 10 minutes by car from Hachishoku Center. Seagull droppings may fall around the shrine grounds, so an umbrella or hat is helpful. The stone steps are somewhat steep, so families with small children should use the handrail.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 45 minutes. In summer, the sun is strong, so visiting in early afternoon is more comfortable.
