About this spot
The final stop of the local line connecting Wakayama to Kata, this small station features sea bream-themed designs throughout the station building and platform. As you exit the ticket gate, the scent of the sea greets you, building anticipation for the seaside stroll ahead. The area retains traditional streetscapes and captures the laid-back atmosphere of a fishing town. On the day of the summer purification festival, many worshippers can be seen walking from the station to the shrine.

全国から奉納された人形やひな人形が境内を埋め尽くすことで知られる、加太の海辺に鎮座する神社です。2026年の夏越し祭は7月31日の日没から始まり、夏の穢れを祓う神事として地元で大切にされてきました。海に面した境内は日没とともに空の色が刻々と変わり、灯りがともる頃には昼間とはまったく違う静かで厳かな雰囲気に包まれます。人形にまつわる由緒ある神社ならではの独特な境内の雰囲気も、家族で歩いてみる価値のある見どころです。1日の締めくくりにふさわしい、海と祈りの時間を過ごせます。
Tips
日没時刻は季節や天候で前後するため、余裕を持って早めに向かいましょう。境内は砂利道の箇所もあるため、歩きやすい靴がおすすめです。夜は海風で体感温度が下がることがあるので、薄手の羽織ものがあると安心です。
Tips
The decorations around the ticket gate are popular photo spots. The station has no large parking lot, so if driving, use parking facilities in the Kata town area. Summer sun is intense with little shade, so arriving early is safer.
Best time to visit
About 40 minutes. Early afternoon offers a comfortable time for strolling without the strongest midday sun.
