Survey the city from the castle keep and confirm the route of the Danjiri floats

About this spot

This castle stands at the center of Kishiwada's castle town and goes by the alternative name 'Sengaritsu Castle.' The current keep was rebuilt during the Showa period and offers views of Kishiwada's castle town and Osaka Bay from within. During the Danjiri Festival, the area around this castle is included in the pulling route, and surveying the castle town streets from the keep makes it easier to understand the location of where 'Yarima-washi' will occur during the festival.

岸和田城下・旧市地区一帯を舞台に、2026年9月19日(土)6時から22時、20日(日)9時から22時にわたって行われる、全国的にも有名な祭りです。重さ4トンを超えるだんじりを豪快な速さで曳き回し、街角を直角に曲がる「やりまわし」は、この祭り最大の見せ場として知られています。朝の「曳き出し」から夜のちょうちんを灯した「灯入れ曳行」まで、時間帯によって異なる表情を見せるのも魅力で、1日を通して城下町全体が熱気に包まれます。

Tips

だんじりの通り道には絶対に近づかず、安全な観覧位置から見学しましょう。会場周辺は終日交通規制がかかるため、公共交通機関の利用が必須です。長時間の観覧になるため、休憩や水分補給をこまめに。

Tips

Within walking distance from Nankai Main Line Kishiwada Station. Admission is required to view the interior of the keep. On festival day, roads in the area are under traffic restrictions, so public transportation is recommended.
