北上川の水運とともに発展してきた石巻の歴史に感謝する、100年以上続く夏祭りです。2026年は7月31日から8月2日までの3日間にわたって開催され、開北橋下流の川筋一帯が会場となります。日中は市中パレードや太鼓の演舞などでにぎわい、日が暮れると北上川の川面を彩る花火大会がクライマックスを迎えます。北上川と海の恵みに支えられてきた石巻の人々の思いが込められた、地域を挙げての夏祭りです。

Tips

花火観覧には河川敷や堤防沿いの場所取りが人気なので、早めの到着がおすすめです。会場周辺は大規模な交通規制がかかるため、徒歩や公共交通機関での来場が確実です。夜は川沿いで気温が下がることもあるので、薄手の羽織ものがあると安心です。

Tips

About 15 minutes on foot from Ishinomaki Station, or you can also use the circulation bus. Access to Nakase is via a bridge, so if you're with a stroller, be careful of the bridge steps. The museum has air conditioning, making it a convenient rest spot during the summer heat.
