Pay respect at Izumo Grand Shrine, famous as the deity of marriage ties
About this spot
One of Japan's oldest shrines, dedicated to Okuninushi-no-Okami, affectionately known as 'Daikokusama'. The large shimenawa rope hanging in the Kagura Hall, one of the largest in Japan, is impressive and is also a popular spot for family commemorative photos. As a deity of marriage ties, visitors come from all over Japan, and numerous shrines and subsidiary shrines are scattered throughout the spacious grounds, allowing you to immerse yourself in the mythological world just by taking a leisurely walk.

Name:
Date & time: 8/8 (Sat) 16:00–20:00
Venue:
Tips
Tips
About 25 minutes by bus from Izumo City Station. The manner of respect here is 'two bows, four hand claps, one bow,' which differs from typical shrines. In summer, the grounds are vast and you'll be in direct sunlight for extended periods, so remember to stay hydrated.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour. Late morning to noon is a relatively easy time to visit.
