A park developed on the ruins of Tokushima Castle, built by Hachisuka Iemasa, where sturdy stone walls and Edo Period daimyo gardens remain intact. Inside the park, the Tokushima Castle Museum offers displays of the castle's history and daimyo artifacts, allowing visitors to understand Tokushima's development as a castle town. Despite being in the city center, the lush grounds offer a peaceful atmosphere, contrasting with the fervor of the Awa Odori at night, providing a leisurely experience.

400年余りの歴史を持つ、日本を代表する盆踊り「阿波おどり」の本場・徳島市での開催です。2026年は8月11日から15日までの5日間、藍場浜演舞場をはじめ市内各所の演舞場で18時から22時にかけて開催され、県内外から集まった連が次々と踊りを披露します。鉦・三味線・太鼓・笛による「ぞめき」のリズムに乗って、男踊りの力強さ、女踊りの優雅さ、子ども連の元気な踊りが目の前を通り過ぎ、見る者を自然と踊りの世界へ引き込みます。「踊る阿呆に見る阿呆、同じ阿呆なら踊らな損損」の掛け声そのままに、街全体が一体となる夜です。
Tips
有料演舞場は事前にチケットを購入すると着席で観覧できます。無料演舞場や街角では立ち見での観覧となり、早めの場所取りが必要です。当日は広範囲で交通規制がかかるため、公共交通機関の利用がおすすめです。
Tips
Good accessibility about 10 minutes walk from JR Tokushima Station. Strolling through the gardens and park is free, but entry to the museum requires an admission fee. Walking in the shade of trees during summer keeps you cool.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour. Morning to early afternoon is the least crowded and best time for strolling.
