A Birds-Eye View of the Castle Town from the Model Keep Overlooking the Yoshinogawa River
About this spot
A model keep built as an information center on the site of the castle of Kawashima Hyoenoshin, a feudal lord who ruled this area during the Sengoku period. From the keep, you can overlook the magnificent flow of the Yoshinogawa River and the townscapes spreading on both banks, truly experiencing the history of a region that has lived with the river. The museum also displays armor, swords, and other historical artifacts, allowing children to learn about history while enjoying themselves. The area around the castle has been developed as a park and is popular as a spot for commemorative photos with the keep as a backdrop.

吉野川のほとりに広がる吉野川市で、8月16日の1日だけ開催される阿波踊り大会です。会場となるJR鴨島駅前中央通りには18時から21時半にかけて地元の連が集まり、鉦と太鼓のお囃子に乗って踊りを披露します。徳島市や鳴門市の大規模な演舞場とは違い、こぢんまりとした通りで開催されるため、踊り手との距離が近く、子どもたちも自然と手拍子や掛け声に参加したくなる温かな雰囲気が魅力です。日中に藤井寺や川島城で歴史に触れた後だからこそ、夜の踊りの熱気がより印象深く感じられます。

会場周辺は当日交通規制がかかることがあります。夜間は駅前以外の道が暗くなる箇所もあるので、懐中電灯があると安心です。荒天時の開催可否は最新の案内で確認しましょう。

About 10 minutes by car from Fujiidera. Museum admission fee required. There are stairs to the keep, so wear comfortable walking shoes.
Best time to visit
Takes approximately 50 minutes. Early afternoon when the air is clear offers the most beautiful views of the Yoshinogawa River.
