The shrine is the tutelary deity of Utsunomiya, and the city's name itself is said to derive from the shrine being called 'Myojin no Miya.' It remains deeply connected to the city's identity. Climbing the stone steps of the main approach reveals a spacious grounds overlooking the urban landscape, offering a serene place to pray amid the city's bustle.

2026年のオリオン七夕まつりは7月31日から8月3日までの4日間、宇都宮市中心部のオリオン通り(江野町)を会場に開催されます。通りの頭上を彩り豊かな七夕飾りが埋め尽くし、浴衣姿の家族連れや地元の人々でにぎわう、宇都宮の夏を代表する風物詩です。初日となる31日は、4日間続く祭りの幕開けの日。日中に神社や公園を巡ってきた一日の締めくくりに、色とりどりの飾りの下を歩きながら短冊に願いを込める、夏らしい夜のひとときを楽しめます。

Tips

祭り期間中は歩行者天国となり、通りが大変混雑します。ベビーカーでの移動は人混みに注意しましょう。夜は気温が下がることもあるので、羽織るものを用意しておくと安心です。
