Heian-Period Garden Built on Grounds Associated with Author Murasaki Shikibu

This garden was developed in commemoration of Murasaki Shikibu, a female writer of the Heian period, who spent time in Echizen Province when her father was appointed as governor. The elegant design recreates a Heian-period garden with a pond, earthen mounds, and a covered pavilion, offering a serene landscape throughout the seasons. 越前市民に親しまれる武生中央公園を舞台に、8月14日・15日の2日間開催される市を代表する夏祭りです。広々とした園内にステージや模擬店が並び、ステージイベントで賑わったあと、夜には夜空を彩る花火が打ち上げられます。日中は子どもの遊び場としても人気の公園が、夜には家族連れで埋め尽くされる祭り会場に姿を変える様子は、越前市の夏を象徴する光景です。

Tips

花火観覧にはレジャーシートがあると便利です。園内は広いため、はぐれないよう待ち合わせ場所を決めておきましょう。荒天時の開催可否は主催者の発表を確認しましょう。
