About this spot

A small mountain known as the resting place of White Tiger Corps soldiers who died in the Boshin War, with a memorial site at the summit. The "Sazaedo" along the approach path is a rare wooden structure with a double spiral interior, featuring a unique design where people ascending and descending don't pass each other—a marvel you can still tour today. It's a classic Aizu tourism spot where you can experience both the weight of Aizu's history and the wonder of its architecture.

2026年の会津まつりは9月19日(土)から21日(月・祝)まで、鶴ヶ城や神明通りを中心に会津若松市内一帯で開催されます。会津藩の歴代藩主やゆかりの人物に扮した「会津藩公行列」をはじめ、日ごとにさまざまな行事が繰り広げられる、会津地方最大級の秋祭りです。提灯行列や踊りの催しも行われ、城下町の通りが歴史絵巻のような雰囲気に包まれます。鶴ヶ城や飯盛山、武家屋敷で会津の歴史をたどってきた1日の締めくくりに、この地に息づく伝統行事の迫力を味わいましょう。

Tips

会場周辺は交通規制がかかる区間があるため、公共交通機関の利用が便利です。行列見物は場所取りが早いこともあるため、良い場所で見たい場合は時間に余裕を持って向かいましょう。

Stone steps lead to the summit, so comfortable walking shoes are essential. An escalator is also available but requires a fee. Viewing the interior of Sazaedo requires a separate admission fee.
