The street lined with traditional merchant houses featuring fire walls called "udatsu" and latticed doors is designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings, allowing you to stroll through a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Walking along the street where irrigation channels murmur, you'll feel as if you've stepped back in time to the Edo and Meiji periods.

東御市の田中商店街一帯を舞台に開かれる「雷電まつり〜東御どすこいSUNSUN〜」です。2026年は8月1日(土)に開催され、江戸時代に活躍した郷土出身の伝説の大力士・雷電爲右エ門にちなみ、相撲にまつわる催しや地域の踊りで商店街が賑わいます。屋台も軒を連ね、地域の団体や子どもたちによる出し物も見どころのひとつです。このコースでは、昼間に海野宿や雷電にまつわるスポットを巡ったあと、夜はその集大成として商店街の賑わいを楽しむ構成にしています。
