Traces of a Rare Water Castle: Seawater-Fed Stone Walls and Towers
About this spot
A park developed from the ruins of Takamatsu Castle, counted as one of Japan's three great water castles for its distinctive practice of drawing Seto Inland Sea seawater directly into its moat. Remaining stone walls and towers suggest the castle's original form, allowing visitors to sense the history of the Takamatsu clan, which controlled sea transport in the Seto Inland Sea. The Seto Inland Sea views from the park are another highlight.
