Isahaya Yuyu Land Kantaku no Sato Mutsugoro Aquarium (諫早ゆうゆうランド 干拓の里 むつごろう水族館)

Flow of the course

About this spot

Located within Isahaya Kantaku no Sato, this aquarium introduces creatures of the Ariake Sea tidal flats. The star, of course, is the mudskipper. Watching it hop and skitter across the mud looks completely different in person than in photos, and kids tend to stay glued to the tank. The tidal-flat habitat itself is unusual, so it should feel fresh even for those living near Isahaya Bay. The grounds also include a reclamation history museum, where you can learn how this land came to be. Right after arriving, spread out a picnic lunch at the indoor rest house, cool off, eat well, and get ready for the afternoon's water play.

Tips

Admission has been free since April 1, 2026. The indoor rest house has air conditioning, so it's comfortable to eat lunch there on a hot day. The grounds are spacious, with a horse park, bicycles, and boats too, so it helps to work backward from your water-play time and narrow down what to see. Since the splash channel is open only from 10:00 to 16:30, keeping the aquarium visit to around 90 minutes at most leaves plenty of room for the afternoon.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 30 minutes. Spending the midday hours indoors lets you skip through the hottest part of the day
