The Road of Electric Poles Leading to the Sea, a Spectacular Landscape that Changes with the Tide
关于这个景点
A single road stretching straight out to sea into Ariake Sea in Sumiyoshi Town, Uto City. Nabeta Kaishokuro is a living road currently in use, built for people engaged in nori seaweed farming and fishing to reach their offshore vessels in Ariake Sea, where tidal differences are extreme. At high tide, the road sinks into the sea with only electric poles visible in a row above the water surface—a mysterious landscape. At low tide, the road itself appears on the tidal flats, revealing an entirely different appearance. It became famous overnight after being featured in television commercials, and today it is a popular photo spot visited by many photography enthusiasts. Begin your day with this Ariake Sea-exclusive scenic wonder that offers two distinct faces depending on the tide.
小贴士
The appearance changes significantly with tide levels, so it is recommended to check the tide table in advance before visiting. Before and after high tide, electric poles float in the sea creating a fantastical landscape; at low tide, you can see the road up close. As this is an active living road, be considerate not to obstruct the work of fishing-related personnel or traffic.
推荐时间段
Approximately 45 minutes. For the best view of electric poles floating in the sea, visit around high tide
