Nagai Water Festival Mogami River Fireworks Display (ながい水まつり 最上川花火大会): A Full-Day Course, 2026

This course is centered on the Nagai Water Festival Mogami River Fireworks Display (ながい水まつり 最上川花火大会), held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, and lets you enjoy a full day of summer in Nagai City (長井市), Yamagata Prefecture (山形県). During the day, take a leisurely stroll through Nagai Ayame Park (長井あやめ公園), the Japanese garden that represents the city, and in the afternoon walk around town at your own pace while taking in the clear waters of the Mogami River (最上川) and the surrounding rural scenery. In the evening, fill up on a meal made with Yamagata ingredients in the area in front of Nagai Station, then move to Mogami River Riverside Green Park (最上川河川緑地公園) to secure a spot. After sunset, at 19:30, about 3,500 fireworks bloom one after another over the surface of the Mogami River, coloring the summer night together with the flickering light reflected on the water. It's a summer-day plan unique to Nagai City, enjoyed alongside the cool breeze along the river.
