2026 Midorigaoka Park Splash Channel Full-Day Course

Midorigaoka Park in Obihiro City (帯広市) is the most luxurious park in Tokachi (十勝), with a zoo, an art museum and a history museum all within a single park. Inside it, the Midorigaoka Park Splash Channel is a free water-play area where you play by walking along a shallow channel. The 2026 opening period has not yet been announced; in most years it opens in time for the summer school holidays. The venue is Midorigaoka Park in Obihiro City, and its strength is that with a children's hall, restrooms and parking on site, even families with small children can spend the whole day comfortably. In the morning, start at Obihiro Zoo. It is not too large, so the scale is just right for a small child to walk all the way around on their own feet. Next, at the Obihiro Centennial City Museum, see side by side how the Tokachi Plain was formed, how the Ainu people lived, and the course of the pioneer era. For lunch, head into town to the Rokkatei Obihiro Main Store and take a long break in the tearoom. In the afternoon, change into swimwear, return to the Midorigaoka Park Splash Channel and go back and forth along the shallow channel until the sun sinks low. Almost all the moving around is completed within the park, and that lightness of simply parking the car and stepping out is another charm of this course.
