2026 Nishi-Obihiro Park Waterway: A Full Day Course

On the west side of Obihiro City, Nishi-Obihiro Park (西帯広公園) sits inside a residential neighborhood and has a waterway where water flows in summer. The Nishi-Obihiro Park Waterway water-play area is a free water playground made up of several kinds of channels. The 2026 opening period has not been announced; in past years it has opened to match the summer holidays. The venue is Nishi-Obihiro Park in Obihiro City, and because the channels are shallow, even children who have just started walking can play within their parents' sight. In the morning, head to nearby Obihiro Forest. It is a vast forest that citizens planted and raised with their own hands, and walking inside a forest made by people is an experience unique to Tokachi. Next, cool off at the Hokkaido Obihiro Museum of Art (北海道立帯広美術館), viewing the works in the quiet exhibition rooms. For lunch, move to Tokachi Mura, which adjoins the Banei Horse Racing Track, and eat while looking over Tokachi produce. In the afternoon, change into swimwear and head for the Nishi-Obihiro Park Waterway, going back and forth along the channel until evening.
