The Usui Third Bridge, commonly called Megane Bridge, is a four-arch brick bridge built with over 2 million bricks—Japan's largest of its kind and a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. Its majestic span across the valley is breathtaking; the bridge top is part of the Apt no Michi walking trail. Whether viewed from below or above, it's a stunning highlight of your pass exploration.
Tips
Free parking and restrooms are available along the national road near the bridge's base. The bridge requires climbing stairs, so for small children, a baby carrier (not a stroller) is recommended.
Best time to visit
30 minutes for viewing. Especially spectacular during fresh spring greenery or autumn foliage seasons.
