A vertical-shaft and ring-type lava cave descending 21 meters underground, designated as a National Natural Monument. Year-round temperatures hover near freezing, with blue-white ice pillars creating a scene like an icy palace beneath the earth. Some sections have ceilings under 1 meter high requiring you to crouch and squeeze through, providing the most adventurous feeling of the entire course. This historically significant cave, where ice was once cut and presented to the shogunate during the Edo period, offers the coolness and dramatic impact that define Mount Fuji sightseeing.

Tips

Steep stairs and low ceiling sections make this better suited for children who can walk independently rather than those needing babywearing. Avoid heels and sandals; wear non-slip shoes and bring a jacket. On holidays and during summer vacation, queues form during midday, so allow extra time. A full loop through the cave takes approximately 15-20 minutes at a leisurely pace.

Approximately 1 hour required. Late afternoon time slots tend to have shorter queues.
