Preview the World Heritage Island's Nature on a Large Screen
About this spot
This facility stands directly adjacent to Miyanoura Port and serves as the gateway to the Yakushima World Natural Heritage site. The video hall equipped with large screens shows spectacular footage of the island's forests, waterfalls, and seas, while the exhibition hall clearly introduces Yakushima's natural features as they transform with elevation—from subtropical vegetation at the coast to the alpine summit regions. An information corner and shop are also available, making it convenient to check the map and confirm the highlights you'll be visiting. If you take time to preview here before starting your loop drive, the forest and sea views from the car windows will become far more meaningful.
Tips
The video hall screenings are scheduled at set times, so it's recommended to check the next showing time upon arrival. The exhibits feature primarily photographs and models, making them easy for children to understand. Since it's just minutes from Miyanoura Port, this is the perfect first stop after arriving by ferry or high-speed boat.
Best time to visit
Approximately 50 minutes required. Early morning viewing right after the facility opens will be most efficient.
