A popular, easy-to-access route within the Kumano Kodo (Ise Route), part of the UNESCO World Heritage "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range." From the trailhead beside Onigajo Castle Center, the well-maintained stone-paved pilgrimage path leads upward for about 15 to 20 minutes before reaching the pass. Continuing slightly further to the observation platform reveals a panoramic vista of Shichiri Mihama's beautiful arc-shaped coastline and the expansive Kumano Sea. The moss-covered stone path and cedar-lined ancient trail atmosphere is something you'll rarely experience in urban areas—a sacred sense of space. Overlooking Shichiri Mihama from an elevated vantage point where tonight's fireworks will light up heightens anticipation for the evening viewing. 毎年8月17日に行われる、三重県を代表する夏の大花火大会です。約10,000発の打ち上げ数に加え、世界遺産の鬼ヶ城の海食洞窟内で炸裂する「鬼ヶ城海中花火」は、岩壁を白く染め上げる轟音とともに他に類を見ない迫力で観覧者を圧倒します。日本でも数少ない「三尺玉」が打ち上げられることでも有名で、直径600mを超える大輪が展開する瞬間と地響きのような爆音は、砂浜で体感してはじめてその凄さがわかります。七里御浜の広大な砂浜から正面に見上げる2時間は、日本の花火大会の中でも屈指の体験といわれています。

Tips

荒天・波浪警報時は中止(予備日なし)のため、当日は熊野市の公式発表を必ず確認してください。終了後は熊野市駅周辺の道路が大渋滞になるため、車の場合は時間差での出発がおすすめです。三尺玉は打ち上げ位置から近い砂浜ではかなりの爆音になるため、幼児には耳栓を用意すると安心です。

Tips

Park at Onigajo Castle Center parking lot and hike to the trailhead. Allow 20-25 minutes one way to the pass; bring comfortable walking shoes and drinking water. The stone path can be slippery with moss, so hold young children's hands. Return by the same route or extend further to Onigajo Castle if desired.
