A rest area station adjacent to Hananoiwaya Shrine with an open location facing Shichiri Mihama that's truly appealing. Local specialty products such as mackerel sushi, Kumano local chicken, and citrus juices are available, making this the perfect stop for a pre-fireworks meal and souvenir shopping. A terrace area offers dining while overlooking Shichiri Mihama, allowing you to enjoy the time before sunset leisurely. The facility becomes crowded starting in the early evening on fireworks day, so acquire meals and beverages early.

毎年8月17日に行われる、三重県を代表する夏の大花火大会です。約10,000発の打ち上げ数に加え、世界遺産の鬼ヶ城の海食洞窟内で炸裂する「鬼ヶ城海中花火」は、岩壁を白く染め上げる轟音とともに他に類を見ない迫力で観覧者を圧倒します。日本でも数少ない「三尺玉」が打ち上げられることでも有名で、直径600mを超える大輪が展開する瞬間と地響きのような爆音は、砂浜で体感してはじめてその凄さがわかります。七里御浜の広大な砂浜から正面に見上げる2時間は、日本の花火大会の中でも屈指の体験といわれています。

Tips

荒天・波浪警報時は中止(予備日なし)のため、当日は熊野市の公式発表を必ず確認してください。終了後は熊野市駅周辺の道路が大渋滞になるため、車の場合は時間差での出発がおすすめです。三尺玉は打ち上げ位置から近い砂浜ではかなりの爆音になるため、幼児には耳栓を用意すると安心です。

Tips

Adjacent to Hananoiwaya Shrine with shared parking. On the fireworks day, parking begins filling early in the afternoon—note this. Buying extra drinks and snacks here avoids lines at convenience stores and stalls near the fireworks venue. Using restrooms here beforehand is also reassuring.
