A nationally designated historic mountain castle built on Mount Kanayama (金山), which stands at 239 meters and symbolizes Ota City. According to tradition, it was built by the Nitta clan during the Northern and Southern Dynasties period, and stone walls, moats, and ponds remain in excellent condition. From the Moon Pond and Sun Pond areas near the summit, you can enjoy a sweeping panorama of the Kanto Plain stretching endlessly before you, and on clear days you can even see Mount Fuji. Walking trails are well-maintained, making it easy for small children to navigate, and you can experience both history and nature simultaneously at this premier spot in Ota City. On the day of the summer fireworks festival, take time during the day to thoroughly explore this historic site that is a stage of local history.

2026年8月8日(土)19:00開始、群馬県太田市の新田まつり花火大会のフィナーレです。新田陸上競技場を会場に4,000発の花火が夏の夜空へ次々と打ち上げられ、約30分間にわたって太田市の夜空を鮮やかに彩ります。まつりの締めくくりにふさわしい大輪の花火は、間近から見上げると音と光が体全体に響く迫力。昼に歩いた金山城跡や新田義貞ゆかりの地の夜空を彩る花火には、歴史の舞台の上に立っているような特別な感慨があります。家族みんなで夜空を見上げながら過ごす30分は、この夏いちばんの思い出になるはずです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は太田市・新田まつり実行委員会の公式発表で確認を。終了後は帰宅客が一斉に動くため、東武新田駅や周辺道路が混雑します。終了後は少し時間をおいてから移動すると、混雑を避けやすくなります。帰りの交通手段と時刻は事前に必ず確認しておきましょう。

Tips

Approximately 15 minutes by car from Ota Station. You can climb via the walking trail from the parking lot of Taikoin Temple (大光院) at the mountain's base. Since parts of the mountain path are steep, wear comfortable hiking shoes. Bring plenty of water to prevent heat exhaustion. There are restrooms near the summit. Plan with plenty of time to spare.

Best time to visit

Takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Climbing in the morning to early afternoon before temperatures peak minimizes physical strain and provides excellent visibility.
