Long revered as the tutelary shrine of Awa Province, this shrine is located near Temple No. 1 (Ryōzenji) of the Shikoku Pilgrimage Route (Shikoku Eighty-Eight Temple Pilgrimage), where many pilgrims visit to pray for safe travels. The grounds are dominated by a massive Japanese cypress tree estimated to be over 1,000 years old, and walking through the tree-lined path leaves visitors feeling refreshed and peaceful. The stone arch bridge called 'German Bridge' remains near the shrine grounds, providing a connection to the German Museum you will visit next.

本場・徳島の阿波おどりのひとつとして、JR鳴門駅周辺の特設演舞場で開催される夏祭りです。2026年は8月9日から11日までの3日間、19時から22時にかけて、鉦・太鼓・三味線・笛の「ぞめき」のお囃子に乗って、連ごとに異なる衣装と踊りの一団が次々と目の前を通り過ぎます。男踊りの勇壮な足さばき、女踊りの編笠と指先のしなやかさ、子どもたちの元気な乱舞と、見どころは尽きません。渦潮の町・鳴門ならではの、海の香りとともに味わう阿波おどりの熱気を体感できます。

Tips

当日は駅周辺が交通規制になり、演舞場沿いは大変混雑します。よい場所で観たいなら開始前から沿道へ。ベビーカーでの最前列観覧は難しいため、沿道後方や広い交差点付近が安心です。荒天時の開催可否は公式情報で確認しましょう。

Tips

This shrine is easily accessible by car with a spacious parking lot. The grounds are shaded by many trees, making it relatively cool even in summer. Admission is free.
