A limestone cavern approximately 4 km in total length, counted among Japan's three largest caves. The public tour route is approximately 1 km. Walk through illuminated corridors lined with stone pillars and stalagmites, with attractions appearing one after another such as the 'Memorial Waterfall' where water drips down. The greatest attraction is the 'Pot of God,' where ancient Yayoi-period pottery has merged with stalagmites. This pot, covered in limestone flowstone over long ages, is rare worldwide and tells of the connection between the cave and human life. Near the exit are a museum and rare bird center, ensuring enriched learning after your exploration. The cave maintains an almost constant temperature year-round, allowing comfortable enjoyment on rainy or hot days alike.

Tips

The cave features many stairs and narrow passages, so a backpack that keeps both hands free and non-slip shoes are recommended. Even in summer, it's around 15 degrees Celsius, so bring a light jacket. From the parking area to the entrance, there's a brief walk of several minutes along a slope lined with souvenir shops.
