A museum inside Midorigaoka Park covering the nature and history of Tokachi (十勝). It is laid out in order, from the geological story of how the broad Tokachi Plain (十勝平野) was formed, to the life of the Ainu people, to the course of settlement from the Meiji era onward. Real artifacts convey how this land, now spread with fields and pastures, once looked completely different. You can walk over from the zoo, so the whole morning is completed within the park, which is another help. The air-conditioned interior is also a reliable refuge for the hours when the sun grows strong.

緑ヶ丘公園じゃぶじゃぶ水路は、帯広市の緑ヶ丘公園にある浅い水遊び用の水路です。2026年の開設期間はまだ発表されておらず、例年は夏休みの時期に合わせて水が流されます。利用は無料で、水深が浅く流れも穏やかなので、歩き始めたばかりの子でも自分の足で立って歩けます。水路は細長く続いているため、上流から下流へ移動するだけでも子どもは飽きません。園内には児童会館やトイレ、駐車場があり、着替えや休憩の場所に困らないのがこの公園の大きな強みです。動物園も博物館も同じ園内にあるので、水遊びだけで終わらない一日にできます。

2026年の開設期間は未発表です。出かける前に帯広市の案内で、当日水が流れているかを必ず確認してください。天候不良や清掃、水質管理の都合で休みになることもあります。更衣室は用意されていない前提で、水着は下に着ていくか、ラップタオルなどで着替えられる準備をしておきましょう。日陰は木立のまわりに限られるので、レジャーシートと帽子を持参し、上がったあとに羽織れる薄手の一枚も用意しておくと安心です。

Tips

Check the admission fee and closing days in advance. The exhibition rooms are a place to be quiet, so putting the zoo first to get some movement in means everyone can view the displays calmly. Keep the visit to about 40 minutes to save energy for the afternoon water play. The layout is easy to get around with a stroller.
