Midorigaoka Park Splash Channel
About this spot
The Midorigaoka Park Splash Channel is a shallow water-play channel in Midorigaoka Park in Obihiro City (帯広市). The opening period for 2026 has not yet been announced; in most years the water is turned on in time for the summer school holidays. Use is free, and because the water is shallow and the flow gentle, even a child who has only just started walking can stand and walk on their own feet. The channel runs long and narrow, so simply moving from upstream to downstream keeps children from getting bored. The park has a children's hall, restrooms and parking, and never being stuck for a place to change or rest is this park's great strength. The zoo and the museum are in the same grounds, so the day does not have to end with water play alone.

Tips
The opening period for 2026 has not been announced. Before you go, be sure to check the Obihiro City information to see whether the water is flowing that day. It may also close due to bad weather, cleaning or water-quality management. Assume that no changing rooms are provided: wear swimwear under your clothes, or bring a wrap towel so you can change. Shade is limited to the areas around the groves, so bring a picnic sheet and a hat, and having a light layer to put on after getting out will also put your mind at ease.
Best time to visit
If you arrive at 14:20 you can play for more than two hours, into the evening as the sunlight softens
