The Minami Park Fountain / Mist Fountain is a free water-play area in Minami Park in Obihiro City. The 2026 opening period has not been announced yet; in past years the water comes on to match the summer holidays. Its distinctive feature is that there is a mist fountain as well as the regular fountains, so even a child who dislikes being suddenly doused can get used to the water starting with the mist. There is no pool-like depth, so children of an age that fears water can still play close to a parent's hand. Because it is a park in the middle of town, you can drop in easily after shopping or a meal. In the sunlight the mist can shine like a rainbow, and finding that is a big event for a child.
