Naganuma Kozo Sculpture Museum (inside Marudai Ogiya)
About this spot
This municipal facility exhibits the works of Naganuma Kozo, a sculptor born in Nagai City. Unlike paintings, three-dimensional works change expression with every change of angle, so children naturally end up circling around them as they look. Many pieces take the form of people and animals, and the good thing about sculpture is that it comes across without difficult explanations. An area of historic buildings spreads around the museum, so even walking outside gives you a sense of the town's memory. Being indoors, it also suits summer: you can spend the morning in comfort before the sun grows strong.
Tips
Please check opening days and hours in advance through the official information. A word to children beforehand about not touching the works keeps things smooth. Some streets nearby are narrow, so if you come by car, use the designated parking.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. The morning right after opening lets you look around calmly
