2026 Bakkan Festival - Full Day Experience Course
A full-day course to enjoy the opening day of the "Bakkan Festival" (Bakkan Matsuri) (August 22-23, 2026, 12:00-21:30, Shimonoseki City, Ovision Kaiko Yume Plaza and surrounding area), which marks the climax of summer in the port town of Shimonoseki overlooking the Kanmon Strait. In the morning, enjoy panoramic views of the Kanmon Strait from Hinoyama Park, touch on the history of the Battle of Dan-no-ura at Akama Shrine, and savor fresh seafood at the vibrant Karato Market. After learning the story of the strait at the Kanmon Strait Museum, at noon the Kaiko Yume Plaza transforms into a festival stage. With about 200 food stalls lining the venue, from noon to 9:30 PM, the plaza overlooking the strait is filled with festival energy throughout the day.
