A Whole River as a Natural Foot Bath! Soak Your Feet in a Hot Spring River Within a Primeval Forest
About this spot
The Oyunuma River is created from hot spring water that overflows from Oyunuma, which formed from the volcanic activity of Hiyoriyama. A rare natural foot bath spot has been developed along this river, utilizing the river itself. Wooden decks for sitting allow you to remove your shoes and soak your feet in the pleasantly warm flowing water, which gently soothes tired feet. Surrounded by primeval forest, the landscape woven together by filtered sunlight, the river's murmur, and rising steam is truly like a hidden retreat in the forest. The water temperature increases upstream, so finding the perfect spot with your children is part of the fun. Located along the boardwalk from Hell Valley to Oyunuma, you can enjoy it as part of a nature hike.
Tips
About 20-30 minutes by boardwalk from Hell Valley, or about 10 minutes on foot from the Oyunuma parking lot (paid, shared with Hell Valley parking) by car. A towel to wipe your feet is essential. Pants with easily rolled-up legs make things smoother. The deck can get crowded, so share the space courteously.
Best time to visit
Approximately 30-45 minutes required. Morning hours are relatively quiet, allowing for a relaxing time under filtered sunlight.
