A Riverside Walking Path Through Kameyama Park on an Island in the Mikuma River

About this spot

A lush green park like a small island floating in the Mikuma River, which flows through Hita's city center. Cross the bridge to enter the park, where walking paths wind through trees including pines, refreshed by the river breeze. Across the river lies the hot spring district with its row of inns, while pleasure boats and anglers dot the river, offering views uniquely characteristic of Hita, the 'water town.' From a small elevated area within the park, you can overlook the Mikuma River and the town. As a fitting conclusion to a day filled with the history of learning and commerce, a leisurely stroll while listening to the river's murmur allows the lingering charm of the Tenryō town to slowly sink into your heart.

Tips

Though the park has many shaded areas, a complete loop of the walking path requires considerable walking, so bring refreshment. The riverbank can be wet underfoot, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. As evening approaches, the light on the river's surface becomes softer, making it an excellent time for photography.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. The afternoon, when sunlight sparkles on the river's surface, is the most pleasant time for walking.
