Yokohama's Only Sandy Beach—Go Barefoot and Play
About this spot
A sandy beach stretching approximately 1 km right in front of Hakkeijima, the only park in Yokohama where sea bathing is possible. The shallow waters and gentle waves are perfect for small children's sand play and water play at the shoreline. During the spring clam-digging season, the beach is bustling with families harvesting littleneck clams.
Tips
Foot washing stations and restrooms are scattered along the beach—very family-friendly. Don't forget a change of clothes for when wet and a plastic bag. Clam digging is typically in spring through early summer.
Best time to visit
1 hour required; late afternoon is comfortable with softer sunlight.
