About this spot

An observation tower overlooking the Sea of Okhotsk, standing at the tip of the breakwater at Monbetsu Ocean Park (紋別海洋公園). The tower's seabed-level floor houses a mini aquarium displaying marine creatures representative of the waters near Monbetsu. From the observation floor, you can look out over Monbetsu Port and the Sea of Okhotsk, and it's also known as a base for drift ice observation in winter. Located in the Monbetsu Port area where the fireworks venue is, it's an easy spot to include as a daytime stop. It's especially recommended for children who love marine life.
