This historic temple is known as the 86th sacred site of the 88-temple Shikoku pilgrimage, said to have been founded as far back as the Asuka period. The five-story pagoda rising within the grounds and the atmospheric main hall convey a sense of historical weight. The temple also carries a legend connected to an ama diver, and it remains a cherished place locally as one that conveys Shido's history and faith.
Tips
About a 5-minute walk from the Hiraga Gennai Memorial Museum. Admission to the grounds is free. There is little shade in some areas during summer, so stay hydrated while visiting.
