About this spot

A scenic spot selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Rice Terraces, with over 1,000 small paddies stacked in layers down a steep slope facing the Sea of Japan. The sight of verdant summer rice plants interspersed with the blue of the sea beyond is one of Noto's most iconic landscapes. From the observation deck, you can view the entire panorama of the paddies, making it a popular photography spot. Experiencing this natural beauty before heading to the festival venue will make the contrast with the night festival even more memorable.

Tips

The parking areas around the observation deck can get crowded depending on the season and time of day. Please respect viewing etiquette by not stepping onto the paddy ridges. Summer sun is strong, so bring sun protection.

Best time to visit

About 50 minutes. Afternoon light makes the rice plants shine brilliantly.
