The Jabu-Jabu Splash Pond at Saga Prefectural Forest Park is a free water play area spreading across the middle of Seseragi Plaza. The 2026 season runs from April 25 until mid-October, and the official visitor information also states "Jabu-Jabu Splash Pond period: April 25 to mid-October (2026)". The water is shallow, about 10 cm deep, and a filtration system is fitted, making it well suited to water play for small children with their shoes off. Admission and parking are both free, so the greatest appeal is being able to set out on the spur of the moment on a fine day. When they tire of the water, children can go back to the big combination playground at the Learning Plaza or the wide lawn plaza, and return to the pond again and again between rests, which is what makes this park so good. The hours when the evening light reflects off the surface are especially lovely, and perfect for rounding off the day.

Only "mid-October" is announced as the closing date, so if you are going from late September onward, check the visitor information on the official website for conditions on the day. You take your shoes off to enter the pond, so a bag to keep shoes and towels together stops things getting scattered. Shade is limited to the areas near the trees, so setting up a rest spot with a picnic sheet or canopy lets you stay longer. Wet bodies chill quickly, so bring a few more towels than the number of people so everyone can dry off and change right after getting out.

Best time to visit

Entering after 14:00 lines up with the hours when the sun softens, so you can play with rest breaks right through to evening.
