Kashiwa Children's Park Fountain
About this spot
The Kashiwa Children's Park Fountain is a free water play spot in Kashiwa Children's Park in Obihiro. The 2026 season has not been announced yet; in most years the water comes on in step with the summer holidays. There is no pool-like depth, so even children at an age when water is frightening can get used to it little by little beside a parent's hand. Running toward the rising water feels less like entering water than playing tag with it, and the smaller the child the more absorbed they become. Because it is a children's park in a residential area, local kids gather naturally and it is common to see them run off together with someone they just met. There is no admission fee and no changeover of visitors, so play and rest can be repeated at the child's own pace.

Tips
The 2026 season has not been announced. Before you go, always check the city of Obihiro's information to see whether the fountain is running that day. It may also be stopped for weather or equipment inspections. Assume there are no changing rooms and wear swimwear underneath to make changing easy. The wet ground around the fountain is slippery, so check the footing with your children before they start running. Shade is limited, so bring hats, a picnic sheet, and a light layer for after getting out.
Best time to visit
Enter at 14:20 and you can play for more than two hours, right through to the evening when the sunlight softens
