About this spot

An area inside Midorigaoka Park (緑ヶ丘公園) where a broad lawn spreads out in every direction. Here an enormous bench said to be the longest in Japan cuts across the grass, running on so far that you cannot see the end of it. Just sitting down and gazing toward the far end gives you a bodily sense of how vast the Tokachi (十勝) region is, an experience that photographs struggle to convey. There is little to block your path on the lawn, making it an ideal spot for children who want to run around. Being able to move after the quiet time in the museum gives the day a good rhythm.

中央公園噴水(帯広)は、帯広市の中央公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年の開設期間はまだ発表されておらず、例年は夏休みの時期に合わせて水が出ます。街の中心に近い公園なので、買い物や食事のあとに気軽に寄れて、遊び終わったらそのまま帰路につけるのが大きな利点です。プールのような水深がないので、水に慣れていない小さな子でも親の手のそばで少しずつ慣らしていけます。この噴水は夜にライトアップされるので、昼の水遊びとはまったく違う姿を見せます。夕食のあとにもう一度立ち寄って、光る水を眺めて一日を締めくくるという楽しみ方もできます。

2026年の開設期間は未発表です。出かける前に帯広市の案内で、当日噴水が動いているかを必ず確認してください。天候や機器の点検の都合で止まっていることもあります。更衣室は用意されていない前提で、水着は下に着ていくと着替えが楽になります。噴水のまわりは濡れた床が滑りやすいので、走る前に足元を子どもと確認しておきましょう。夜のライトアップを見るなら、上がったあとに羽織れる一枚を必ず用意してください。

Tips

There is little shade from the sun, so be sure to bring a hat and drinks. If you plan to sit on the grass, a picnic sheet makes it much more comfortable. Keep the stay to about 40 minutes and save energy for the afternoon water play. Parking is available at several points in Midorigaoka Park, so you can leave the car at the museum and walk over.
