Karako-Kagi Archaeological Museum

About this spot

This is an archaeology museum inside the Tawaramoto Aogaki Lifelong Learning Center, gathering artifacts excavated from the Karako-Kagi site. Yayoi-period pottery and wooden tools are on display, and you can see items you have seen in textbooks, such as vessels with pictures of a multi-storied tower, right in front of you. The exhibits are compactly arranged, so even small children can go around the whole thing while their concentration lasts. The interior is air-conditioned, making it perfect for cooling down after walking outdoors. Once you learn about the Yayoi settlement here and then look out over the town, the farmland scenery looks completely different.

「田原本町イベント広場噴水」は、町の中心にある住民交流施設の広場で夏のあいだ稼働する無料の水遊びスポットです。田原本町の公式案内によると、噴水の稼働期間は令和8年(2026年)6月13日(土曜日)から9月30日(水曜日)まで、時間は午前9時から午後5時までを予定しています。イベント広場は「触れ合い、語らい、憩い」をテーマにした施設で、屋外ステージや和室A・B・Cを備えたコミュニティホールが併設されています。プールのような深さがないため、歩き始めたばかりの子でも保護者と一緒に安心して水にふれられるのが魅力です。今年度はイベント広場での噴水開始イベントは開催しませんが、噴水そのものは予定どおり夏のあいだ楽しめます。町なかにあるので買い足しや食事の選択肢が多く、予定が崩れても立て直しやすいのが家族連れにはありがたいところです。

Tips

噴水は午後5時までの予定なので、着替えの時間を見込んで16時30分ごろに水から上がると落ち着いて帰れます。稼働は予定であり天候などで変わる場合があるため、出発前に田原本町の公式案内で確認してください。広場には日陰が少ないので、帽子とレジャーシートを持参し、こまめに休憩をはさみましょう。石畳は濡れると滑りやすいため、足元を守るサンダルがあると安心です。おむつが取れていない子は水遊び用おむつを用意してください。

Check the opening days, hours, and fees in the official information in advance. The exhibition room is a quiet space, so telling small children in advance makes it go smoothly. It is built so that you can view the displays with a stroller. Learning facilities occupy the same building, so restrooms and rest areas are easy to find.
