The Nakamachi Water Play Facility (Nakamachi Mall Fountain Plaza) is a free water play area set in a corner under the large roof in front of the Nakamachi Health and Community Plaza in Nakamachi Mall, Sakata City. According to the official Yamagata Prefecture Child-Raising Support Site, it runs every day from mid-June to mid-September, spraying water and mist every 15 minutes between 10:00 and 16:00. Cheers go up each time the spray comes around, and the fun of it is that even the waiting builds excitement. Being under the big roof, you can avoid direct sunlight, so adults can watch over the children in comfort even on hot days. The Nakamachi Health and Community Plaza stands right in front, and shopping-street stores line the surroundings, so there is no trouble finding a break or extra supplies. Use is free, so a short stop works just as well.

Please check the current operating status locally before you set out. Parking is charged, so check how coins or parking tickets are handled. The area faces a shopping-street walkway, so be mindful of passersby when running about. For children not yet out of diapers, please bring swim diapers.
