Sakana Park Jabujabu Splash Pond
About this spot
The Jabujabu splash pond in Sakana Park is a free water-play area fed by spring water from Mount Fuji. Because it is spring water itself, it is remarkably clear and stays chilly even in midsummer - its greatest feature. The cries of how cold it is the moment feet go in on a hot day are a signature of summer at this park. Small waterfalls, streams and observation ponds are arranged around the pond, so children can follow the flowing water and hunt for creatures. The park is open 9:00-17:00 and the park grounds 9:30-17:00, with daily opening from July 21 to August 31 in summer. The playground area with its long slide and ropeway-style structure, the Forest Learning Center and the Yamanashi Prefectural Fuji Yusui no Sato Aquarium are all on the same grounds, so you can happily spend the whole day here.

Tips
Free of charge. The splash pond's opening period has not been announced, so be sure to check the official Oshino Village page (https://www.vill.oshino.lg.jp/site/kanko/1615.html) before you leave. The spring water is quite cold even in midsummer, so have bath towels and something to put on ready in case anyone gets chilled and needs to come out. The altitude is high and mornings and evenings are cool, so one long-sleeved layer is reassuring. There are stones on the bottom of the pond, so water shoes are safer. From July 21 to August 31 in summer the park opens daily, but there are closed days at other times of year, so check in advance.
Best time to visit
