About this spot

Adjacent to Ikegami Honmon-ji Temple, this Ota City park is surrounded by wooded slopes. The terrain of a former valley remains as it was, with an open plaza set in a valley surrounded by trees. There's also an area where water flows down the slope, giving a sense of nature you wouldn't expect from a park in central Tokyo. The shade is deep, so you can spread out a picnic sheet and settle in to eat a bento even in midsummer. It's within walking distance of Kirisato Nature Park.

Tips

Pick up your bento around Ikegami Station (池上駅) before heading over, for a smoother trip. The park paths have slopes and stairs, so with a stroller, check the entrance in advance. With so many trees, mosquitoes can appear, so having insect repellent is comfortable. Taking your trash home with you is standard practice, and it's reassuring to avoid going into the water right after eating, resting about 20-30 minutes before heading to change.

Best time to visit

About 55 minutes. The shade in the valley is bearable even at midday in midsummer.
