About this spot

This Ota City garden sits on the hills west of Ikegami Honmon-ji Temple, and as its name suggests, is known as a famous spot for plum blossoms. It's open outside plum-blossom season too, with garden paths winding along the slope, and a calm setting featuring a Japanese-style room, a pavilion, and a small pond. There's some elevation change, so walking around works up a light sweat, but there's plenty of shade, and from the top you can look down over the town of Ikegami. It's more a garden where locals spend quiet time than a tourist spot, so you won't tire from crowds even with children. It's a just-right stop for a moment to calm down among the greenery before the afternoon's water play.

Tips

There's a fee for admission. Check the opening hours, closed days, and fee on the Ota City official announcement in advance. The garden paths have many stairs and slopes, so a stroller isn't suitable. Eating and drinking are only allowed in designated spots, so it's more comfortable to move to a park or similar before spreading out a bento.

Best time to visit

About 45 minutes. Late morning, with plenty of shade, is easy to walk around in.
