Oigawa Railway: Steam Locomotives and the Remote Okuoi-kojo Station
After getting a close look at the steam locomotive and turntable at Shin-Kanaya Station (新金谷駅), the SL base, head upstream along the Oi River to Senzu Station (千頭駅). Transfer to the South Alps Abt Line (南アルプスあぷとライン) and aim for Okuoi-kojo Station (奥大井湖上駅), a spectacularly located remote station floating on an emerald-green lake. From Japan's only Abt-system section and the power of Nagashima Dam (長島ダム) to the Dream Suspension Bridge (夢のつり橋) at Sumatakyo (寸又峡), this is a jam-packed route that will keep a train-loving family excited all day long.
