Koiwai Farm: A Day of Pasture Play and the Handmade Village
A family course for enjoying a full day of pasture fun and traditional crafts in Shizukuishi, at the foot of Mount Iwate. Interact with sheep at Koiwai Farm's Makiba-en, one of Japan's largest privately run comprehensive farms, savor the farm's famous rich soft-serve ice cream, then take a commemorative photo at the Lone Cherry Tree standing solitary in the pasture. In the afternoon, try your hand at grilling your own Nanbu senbei rice crackers at Morioka Tezukuri Mura, then get moving on the novelty bicycles at Gosho-ko Regional Park. Finish up by looking for direct-from-the-farm souvenirs at Michi-no-Eki Shizukuishi Anekko. Packed with a good balance of animals, hands-on experiences, and outdoor play, this is a course that will keep families with small children smiling all day long.
