Tamano Seaside Views: Ojigatake's Niko Niko Rock and Shibukawa Coast
A family-friendly seaside course in Tamano, Okayama Prefecture, facing the Seto Inland Sea, where you can fully enjoy both stunning views and the beach. In the morning, take a leisurely stroll through Uno Port (宇野港), dotted with artworks. Next, at Ojigatake (王子が岳), a giant boulder called Niko Niko Rock (ニコニコ岩), which looks about to burst into laughter, and a sweeping panorama stretching to the Seto Ohashi Bridge, greet you. At midday, enjoy a beach walk and lunch while listening to the waves at Shibukawa Coast (渋川海岸), known for its white sand and green pines. In the afternoon, observe sea creatures up close at Shibukawa Marine Aquarium (渋川マリン水族館), where you can meet sea turtles and seals, and finish up hunting for souvenirs at the lush Michi-no-Eki Miyama Park (道の駅 みやま公園). Despite a day rich in variety with sea, mountain, creatures, and a park, the travel distances are compact, so you can get around comfortably even with small children. This is Tamano's classic route, one that leaves the whole family saying that was fun.
